The Bye-Bye Blog Post | Personal | Rose Wheat Photography | Destin Florida Wedding & Glamour & Senior Photographer

Where does one begin to tell someone something that is big?

I could tell a witty joke or share an intriguing fact, but my best method for getting things out is through story-telling.

Why do I feel like crying? This probably isn’t even that big of a deal. Seriously though, I’m sitting in a coffee shop, keys under fingertips, with the slight feeling that I might start leaking from the eyes despite all the commotion and clamor.

Let’s dive in regardless.

Two and half years ago I met this man who changed my life. Days into meeting him, I knew that he was it---even though we never had gushy conversations or secret make-out sessions. Some things you just know, and I knew he was the guy I was going to spend the rest of my life with. Much to everyone’s surprise, we got married four months later. That’s a whole other story in itself, so I won’t get into it today.

This man who I had fallen in love with, that fit into my life like a missing puzzle piece, happened to have a profession that I long abhorred and wouldn’t touch with a 30 foot pole. I knew his job would present difficulties in our marriage, that he would be absent for long periods of time because of it, and that it could permanently change him in severely negative ways. That was a cost I was willing to pay though. He was worth it. What he did for a living mattered less and less to me, because I wasn’t marrying his job---I was marrying him.

For most soldiers, there comes a time when they are asked to relocate for various reasons, and for my solider, that time has come. This October, my husband and I will be relocating to Florida as he further pursues his career in the military.

Part of me is terrified to leave my relationships that I have grown and cultivated for several years and to be more than a stone’s throw away from my hometown. Another part of me is so terribly excited for something new, for highways with different scenery, for a climate that demands you to wear a swimsuit under your clothing at all times, and for the taste of salt-water on my lips on breezy days.

Despite the change, it’s all adventure, and my belly is fluttering with excitement about it.
For all past, current, and future clients of Rose Wheat Photography, here’s what you can expect:·
  • September 24, 2013 is my last day for booking sessions here in Kansas, though I will not be moving until shortly after that date.
  • I will still honor all weddings I have already booked after that date, and there will be no extra charge for travel.
  •  I will start booking glamour and senior sessions, as well as weddings in the Destin, Florida and Pensacola, Florida area after October 1, 2013.

With the military, anything is subject to change. If something does change, I will be sure to let all of you know!

If you have any questions, comments, inquiries, or concerns, please feel free to contact me at hello{at}rosewheat{dot}com.
